Ruptured aneurysm of the anomalous cerebellar artery originating from internal carotid artery presenting with carotid cavernous fistula: a case report.

چکیده
We report a case of a ruptured aneurysm of the anomalous cerebellar artery originating from internal carotid artery presenting with a carotid cavernous fistula (CCF). An initial angiogram showed the typical appearance of a CCF with a direct fistulous tract with focal aneurysmal dilation from the ascending cavernous segment of the right internal carotid artery. A postembolization angiogram of the right internal carotid disclosed the anomalous cerebellar artery originating from the fistula point of the internal carotid artery.

common internal carotid artery (ICA) -basilar artery anastomosis with an incidence between 0.1% and 0.3% (1). Anomalous cerebellar artery originating from the PTA has rarely been reported (2, 3). Rarely when an aneurysm is combined and ruptures into the cavernous sinus, spontaneous trigeminal-cavernous fistula can develop, which is usually treated by transarterial detachable balloon embolizatio...
متن کاملCarotid cavernous fistula due to a ruptured intracavernous aneurysm of the internal carotid artery: treatment with selective endovascular occlusion of the aneurysm.
Intracavernous carotid artery aneurysms causing a carotid-cavernous fistula (CCF) are rare. These aneurysms usually cause neurological symptoms due to gradual expansion without rupture. If they do rupture they most often lead to a CCF instead of bleeding into the subarachnoid space. A patient is described with a ruptured intracavernous aneurysm causing a CCF resulting in acute onset of unilater...
متن کاملCarotico-cavernous Sinus Fistula: Duplex Doppler Findings
INTRODUCTION Carotico cavernous sinus fistula (CCF) is an abnormal communication between the carotid artery and the cavernous sinus and is classified angiographically as dural or direct. Spontaneous CCF is a dural arterio-venous fistula at the cavernous sinus which is different from traumatic CCF or CCF associated with a ruptured aneurysm at the cavernous internal carotid artery. Cerebral angio...
متن کاملTreatment of carotid cavernous fistulae or cavernous aneurysms associated with a persistent trigeminal artery: report of three cases.
One case of traumatic carotid cavernous fistula and two cases of cavernous aneurysm associated with a persistent trigeminal artery are reported. Since a significant rate of infarctions or hemorrhages in the vertebrobasilar territory is associated with PTA, we prefer to permanently occlude the PTA during treatment of a carotid cavernous fistula or a cavernous aneurysm if the trigeminal artery ca...
متن کاملTransvenous embolisation of a carotid-trigeminal cavernous fistula.
A carotid cavernous fistula is an abnormal communication between the internal carotid artery and the cavernous sinus. Rarely, this communication is associated with a persistent primitive trigeminal artery, with or without a trigeminal artery aneurysm. We report a case of spontaneous carotid-trigeminal cavernous fistula in which the persistent trigeminal artery was shown only on vertebral artery...
